The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) has called for the legalization of electric scooters and their allowance in cycle lanes in London.

According to the LCC, e-scooters, e-bikes, and e-cargo bikes could play a significant role in creating a greener future for the city.

The LCC, however, does not support the use of e-scooters on pavements. As the popularity of e-scooters increases, the LCC hopes that a "micromobility coalition" can push for more segregated cycle lanes.

Although e-scooters are currently illegal to use on public roads, a government trial of an e-scooter rental scheme is set to launch soon.

“A report by the London Cycling Campaign said e-scooters, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes should all be welcomed and could play a key role in a “greener” future for the capital post-lockdown.”
