The author shares their experience of renting electric scooters in Northampton with their family.

They found them easy to use, and enjoyed being in control of their speed while being respectful of pedestrians and traffic rules.

They mention that e-scooters are more hygienic and eco-friendly than buses or taxis, and are also more affordable. After enjoying their experience, the family even bought their own e-scooter for short trips in their local area.

The author addresses concerns about e-scooters being left in random places and suggests more designated parking spots are needed.

They also disagree with the view that e-scooters are dangerous, noting that they have seen more reckless behavior from cyclists. The author concludes by expressing support for e-scooters as a green and accessible form of transportation.

“I can see people’s concerns with them but they don’t just do 15mph. You have full control over the speed you can do walking speeds.

They can’t be seen as dangerous. I’ve seen pushbike users do more dangerous riding by jumping lights and going at high speeds on paths.”
